If one of the highly regarded wine estates slash restaurants of the La Clape region near Narbonne opens a beach restaurant, it’s a must-visit. L’Hospitalet Beach at Narbonne Plage is Château L’Hospitalet’s summery sister, sophisticatedly dressed and with a natural breeze. Here, you can dine in style with a fine glass of Gérard Bertrand’s wine in your hand and your feet in the sand.
Summer restaurant
On a sultry summer evening, Chéri and I drove off to Narbonne Plage at the foot of the Massif de la Clape. Destination: L’Hospitalet Beach, the summer restaurant of Château L’Hospitalet. Chef Laurent Chabert and his team make sure that you enjoy every bit of the gastronomical menu proposed, just like the wine estate’s top restaurant L’Art de Vivre. The attentively prepared dishes deliver the sun to your plate and mouth using local and organic produce. And the setting is most elegant and sophisticated.
Source of Joy
Chéri and I were in for a treat as we ordered our food. We started off with some tasty oysters and an original escabeche of mackerel while the adorable waitress poured our wine. We chose the organic Source of Joy rosé from- obviously- Château L’Hospitalet, which also married well with our main courses. Chéri relished grilled tuna slices served on a seasonal ratatouille. I had chosen the fish of the day, which was a filet of maigre fish with Mediterranean stir-fried vegetables.
Joyful tunes
L’Hospitalet Beach only opens during the summer months, from July to mid-September and closes on Mondays. Every night, dinner is enlivened by the relaxed music of DJ Kelian Marques and a saxophonist. While the sun set and the sax player continued his joyful tunes, the waitress served our desserts. We concluded our excellent night out with a garigue flavoured ice cream for Chéri and a scrumptious revisited profiterole for me. L’Hospitalet Beach is a place that makes dreams come through.
