While doing my shopping in Uzès (read previous post here), I kept an eye open for a restaurant we could go to later that week. Just off Place aux Herbes, right in the centre of Uzès, I spotted restaurant Ten. With its terrace right under the arches and a cool and modern interior, it looked very tempting. This was before I checked out the menu and was pleasantly surprised. Very pleasantly in fact!
Cheerful
We had the warmest welcome. Our waitress Kate was happy and cheerful and immediately made us feel at home. We ended up speaking a mix of French and English, so no problems here if you’re not fluent in French. The menu has an interesting mix of international dishes with an Asian twist. All made with local and fresh products. As a starter, we went for the tempura oysters with wasabi mayonnaise. The kids adore fried squid, so we got them two plates to share. Should have been three or even four portions, the kids weren’t the only ones who liked it…
Inside or outside
As we went to Ten in the Autumn, we decided to sit inside. However, you can have great dinners outside as well. Besides the terrace at the front of the restaurant, Ten has a lovely hidden courtyard inside. We’ll save it for next time. Meanwhile, we were enjoying our main dish: teriyaki salmon with green veggies and fish and chips for the little ones. Simple but delicious. And it left enough room for the dessert (which I never miss).
Rating
I always find it very hard to resist a chocolate cake. Served with ice cream. So I didn’t resist. I ate it. And it was good! When I asked the kids if the food was worth a ten out of ten, they didn’t agree though. They’ve turned into French kids, they preferred to give it a twenty out of twenty (“vingt sur vingt”). We could all agree on that!
