Oh La La Beach in Leucate Pairs a Laid-Back Vibe with Elegance

Oh La La Beach

Finding a beach restaurant that ticks all the boxes makes my summer. I’m talking about an easy breezy interior, lovingly prepared dishes, and the sea at your feet- literally! Oh La La Beach in Leucate Plage is the place that made my heart sing. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the breathtaking views of the endless blue water while enjoying a drink in hand. Or you can come to ‘faire la fête’ and dance under the stars.

Paradisiacal Setting

Can you find a more paradisiacal setting than Oh La La Beach at Leucate Plage? I think it would be a challenge to beat it. This beach restaurant is right on the sand, practically touching the water. I mean, any closer to the water and you’d be standing in it. As soon as you walk through the amazingly crafted door, the dining room reveals itself. The open structure, highlighted by the extensive use of wood and oriental elements, immediately drew my gaze toward the sea. To the right is an alluring bar with relaxed seating under an inviting canvas. And straight ahead are three rows of sophisticated sunbeds, just a few steps from the gently rolling waves. No less than heaven on earth, I told you!

Touch of Originality

Chéri and I had booked a table for a romantic dinner for two. Oh La La Beach offers a gastronomic menu featuring classic dishes and more inventive options with a creative twist. You can combine some tapas-style starters, some of which can also be ordered at the bar, or have a full three-course meal. I made sure to save room for dessert, as apparently there is an artisanal pastry chef. With the pleasantly cooling sea breeze, I was glad I had brought a light cardigan. And you might want to bring some mosquito repellent; we weren’t the only ones having a feast…

Full Experience

Since Chéri and I wanted to indulge in the full experience, we began gently with two tapas from the starter selection. Sharing some Iberian ham croquettes (14 euros) and a lobster salad (19.50 euros), I could smell the smoke of the on-the-spot roasted sardines from our neighbouring table. Next time, I’ll order those too. Our main courses consisted of two very generous portions of linguine, accompanied by giant prawns (28 euros) for Chéri and grilled cuttlefish (24.50 euros) for me. With just enough room left for dessert, we concluded our meal with a lemon trompe l’oeil (12 euros, a TikTok hit according to our twins) and a lemon tart topped with meringue (12 euros), both delicious. However, I couldn’t resist peeking at the neighbours’ spectacular profiterole for two (24 euros). Next time… there definitely will be a next time!
