As Chéri and I wanted to show our children the historic city of Nîmes, we decided to stay over in the city for a night. As soon as we entered our hotel ‘Marquis de la Baume’, we stepped into a magical world. Night had already fallen, and the staircase to our room was wonderfully lit. Our oldest thought we were going to sleep at Harry Potter’s school, although, luckily, the stairs didn’t move… Kids happy, we’re happy!
Luxurious
Hotel Marquis de la Baume has a family room; however, we booked rather late. So we had two rooms next to each other for our family of five. As the hotel is a four-star hotel, it was very luxurious. The interior is decorated in a modern style with some traditional elements. Finished off with super comfortable beds in clean, spacious rooms.
Treasure
I wasn’t quite expecting such a treasure, hidden behind the facade of a 17th-century mansion. I really loved the layout of the rooms, with the bathroom hidden behind the king-sized bed. It gave the room so much air, whilst still having all the comfort you’d expect from a four-star hotel. You can also enjoy a drink on the romantic patio or in the contemporary bar downstairs.
Fresh as daisies
All five of us slept like logs and woke up feeling fresh as daisies. You can have breakfast at the hotel, but we were so eager to go into town that we decided to skip it. The hotel is situated in the heart of the historical centre of Nîmes, and it was a short and pleasant walk to all the monuments. A great way to start our Nîmes trip!
