The charming Bed and Breakfast ‘La Belle Vue’ suits its name perfectly. Standing on the terrace, the view over picturesque Neffiès, the vineyards and, on a clear day, even the Pyrenees is truly breathtaking. The lovely Yvonne Tenninge and Micke Sköldmark have created a wonderfully welcoming guest house with great style. No wonder guests keep coming back to this paradise.
Needing a break from their busy lives in Sweden, Yvonne and Micke started dreaming about living in the South of France. The Languedoc region to be precise. So, after some serious househunting (they visited more than 60 houses!), it was at the end of 2014 that Yvonne moved from Sweden to France, with Micke following three and a half years later. Which means that Yvonne did most of the renovation and decoration. As the house has six guest rooms, the work she has done all by herself is pretty impressive! Because Yvonne and Micke live so close to their guests, La Belle Vue has a very hospitable and warm atmosphere. The minute I entered the Bed and Breakfast, I felt at home.
Eye for details
Yvonne ran an interior design shop in Stockholm, and she has an excellent eye for details. Both the interior and the exterior are decorated with treasured vide-greniers finds. Inviting corners of the house made me want to snuggle up with a good book and a glass of wine. Whether this is in the cosy living room, the terrace-with-a-view or of course the comfortable bedrooms, every corner of the house is beautifully decorated with some real gems. After a good nights sleep, a gorgeous and generous daily breakfast awaited me. Farm cheeses, homemade jams, warm croissants and freshly pressed juices gave me energy for the rest of the day. On top of this, you can join a ‘table d’hôtes’ twice a week. Yvonne also knows her way around the kitchen and prepares beautiful meals using local produce. Since all guests eat at the same time, this is such a special moment to meet, socialise and share your best sightseeing tips.
Although it is difficult to leave the house (look at the tempting pool!), Yvonne and Micke organise many original day trips. What about biking with a GPS through the vineyards, including a picnic basket filled with cheese and wine? Or joining a cooking class in the village, come back to the B&B for a shower and then go back down to eat what you have cooked? Winetastings at fantastic wine estates, energizing yoga classes and reservations at the best restaurants are all just some of the possibilities. In other words, La Belle Vue understands how to provide service. It is clear that Yvonne and Micke have created a special place with La Belle Vue, that many people now cherish in their hearts. La Belle Vue is their guests’ destination, with the Languedoc region as a bonus. And vice versa, La Belle Vue would be nothing without all those wonderful guests. As a result, Yvonne warned me: ‘be careful, we collect friends at La Belle Vue’.
