Marché du Lez, the creative hotspot just outside of Montpellier, has a fantastic resident. Since the summer of 2017, concept store “La Maison Pernoise” opened its doors on the grounds of Marché du Lez. La Maison Pernoise in Montpellier is my kind of shop. It has it all: great style, a good eye for design in combination with (very) desirable products. It gives me loads of inspiration. And an even bigger wishlist…
Inspiring
The concept store, installed in an old renovated barn, offers more than 250 square metres of floor space. The building itself, with its high windows and black bricks, gives the whole place an industrial look. Although it is a shop, it doesn’t feel like it. Sure, you can buy every product you see, but I have the feeling it is also about inspiring visitors.
Personality
The great thing about La Maison Pernoise is that you feel the personality of the shop owner Lau Dejente. Accessories, furniture, lighting, photography, tableware, pillows, rugs all are selected with care from all around the world. Products from Mediterranean artisans are combined with brands like House Doctor, Cinq Etoiles, Honoré, Nomad India, and Jars, to name a few.
Tips and tricks
La Maison Pernoise is not only a concept store. They also organise styling masterclasses and offer their help with interior design. Lau and her team have plenty of tips and tricks and are very willing to bring their products to your home to directly test how they fit in your interior. You will also get a lot of inspiration in the store itself. Everywhere you look, you see examples of how you can style your home. Wooden stools, colourful rugs and beautiful tableware cosy up little corners. So much creativity to try at home!
Slow living
The concept store showcases a lot of different styles, but they all have slow living and a feeling of a well-travelled person in common. I am utterly happy with the arrival of La Maison Pernoise in Montpellier. Too bad I don’t live next door. Or maybe that’s for the best. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to do some serious restyling at home…
